User stories are short, informal, plain-language descriptions of what a user wants to do within a software product, which is of value to them. They come from the Human Computer Interaction (HCI) community and are written on 3-inch by 5-inch (3×5) index cards. A user story is the smallest unit of work that can be done in 1 sprint (roughly 1–2 weeks).
