Why Design Test Cases?

1 min read

Random tests do not guarantee that most errors will be found. Consider the faulty minimum calculation: if (x < y) min = x; else min = x.

Pairs (1, 2), (3, 4) and (1000, 10000) all pass because x is smaller. Design cases where the first value is minimum, the second value is minimum, and both values are equal.
