Maintenance means monitoring usage, changing code and adding features.

1. Monitor what users are doing and how they use the software: are they using it as intended, and are there any difficulties or errors?

2. Change the code for upgrades/updates (patch releases).

3. Add features.

EXAMPLE Even after releasing Amazon Pay, some conditions might have been missed, resulting in failures, or there may be a simple UI issue in a very specific browser. The team identifies such issues in the maintenance phase and fixes them.
